The Red Card, the premiere of ‘Immigration: what’s the story?’

The issue of immigration is never far from the headlines; commentary is often misleading, dangerously simplistic and feeds into a worrying narrative of anti-immigration sentiment.

Anti-racism Education Workers have noticed this trend in their workshops and are increasingly hearing racist ideas and attitudes expressed towards migrant communities.

The RedCard response was to develop an educational film, elevating the voices of people who have moved from one country to another, to try and dispel some of the popular myths and provide an alternative view.

TheRedCard is delighted that Sunderland City Council will host this event in their Council Chamber.

There will be an introduction to the issues, a showing of the film, followed by an hour of networking (food and drink will be available).

Start: 6pm End : 7.15pm

Drinks & Networking: 7.15pm-8.30pm

Venue: Council Chamber, Civic Suite, Sunderland Civic Centre, Burdon Road SR2 7DN
