The policy section on BECON website will provide regular updates on local, regional and national policy areas prioritised by BECON. The organisation has a defined role in contributing to and influencing regional policies in the North East. BECON, in partnership with other BME regional infrastructure organisations nationally, is also participating in Voice4Change England campaigns nationally representing BME volunatary and community sector in the North East from a Black and Anti-Racist perspective.
BECON is committed to continue its engagement in regional and national policy developments without losing sight of its ethos. BECON will work with regional stakeholders and partners to contribute to the development of regional policies and will emphasise inclusion of BME communities in policy development and implementation. Through this section of the website, BECON will provide information on its engagement on the following policy areas:
BECON is also a partner on a Regional Policy Project led by VONNE. The project is funded by the Big Lottery Fund BASIS programme. This project seeks to influence regional policy developments and every year BECON will lead on two policy areas except in the first year where BECON is leading on only one policy area. Further information is available on the Regional Policy Project section of our website.
BECON website will also be an area where critical reading of emerging policies be made available for comments to BECON members. This section will also provide BECON's responses to regional and national policy developments besides policy briefs prepared in light of new information made available about BME communites in the North East. This section will also include resources, especially research and policy documents published by government departments and independent think tanks.
