Oral History Project PDF Print E-mail

The Jewish Council for Racial Equality (JCORE) Refugee
Start in September 2010

Are you interested in being interviewed for an educational project?

The JCORE is looking for people who have come to Britain as refugees to take part in this unique oral history project by British school students. The main aim of the project is to educate the students about the experiences of asylum seekers and refugees, and about the issues around asylum.

How will it work?
80 school students aged from 14 to 16 will be involved in the project as part of their history, religious education or citizenship studies. With training and support from JCORE staff, a group of five or six students will work closely with you over a few months and will then interview you about your experiences.

The interviews will be recorded on audio and video.

How much of my time will it take up?
The project will start in September 2010. We will need your commitment for a few hours a month over four months.

Will it cost me anything?
Not a penny - we will pay for any travel connected with the project.

What is JCORE?
JCORE works to educate young people about the issues surrounding asylum seekers and refugees in Britain.
JCORE also campaign for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers, and run practical projects to help refugee doctors, unaccompanied child refugees, and destitute asylum seekers.
