The Community Science Small Grant Fund
Grants from
£1000 up to £12000

The Community Science Small Grant Fund provides grants ranging from £1000 up to £12000 to voluntary and community organisations to engage with Newcastle local communities to deliver activities, events and projects raising awareness about science, helping to stimulate interest in science, technology, engineering and maths and facilitate access to learning, personal development and employment opportunities.The Community Service Grant Fund is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), One North East and Newcastle City Council.

Through this scheme Newcastle based voluntary and community sector and not-for-profit organisations are encouraged to develop projects that aim to raise awareness and understanding of Newcastle Science City and increase the knowledge of, and participation in, science-related activities within the city.

To address that BECON is to hold a funding application advice workshop to discuss recent failed funding bids submitted by groups across the region.
BECON is to invite one or two funding bodies along to directly answer your questions!

This is an ideal opportunity to get these and any other questions you have answered.

Loan IT equipment for Free! PDF Print E-mail

North of England Refugee Services (NERS)

From the 1st April 2010 NERS is offering 2 sets of IT equipments packages to loan out to local Community Groups across the North East Region.

Each IT equipment package consists of:

  • Laptop
  • Printer
  • Projector
  • Digital Camera

The duration of the loan depends on demand and its free of charge.

The Launch of the Innovation Fund PDF Print E-mail

Community Engagement & Empowerment Programme
Deadline noon 28 May 2010

The Programme Board agreed on 3rd April 2009 to establish an Innovation Fund. The key objective of the fund is to improve community empowerment and engagement by:

  • Generating a positive impact on services and culture
  • improving outcomes for communities, and
  • embedding a genuine customer focus in service delivery that can be felt within organisations and by communities.

The Innovation Fund is structured around the core themes of the CEE Programme which are shown below and support the aspirations of Communities in Control, Real People Real Power, the Government's Empowerment White Paper:

Improving empowerment and engagement and communicating more effectively with :

  • Older People
  • Young People
  • Communities
  • Engaging with hard to reach groups including the "silent majority"
  • Furthering understanding between statutory and voluntary & community sectors
  • Supporting community safety and the integration of neighbourhood policing into neighbourhood management

The 2010 Innovation Fund has funding of £200,000 available for the financial year April 2010 to March 2011.

 

Ideally, a geographically balanced spread of projects across the region, in both rural and urban settings will be sought.
