Newcastle Neighbours Fund PDF Print E-mail

Newcastle Neighbours is a small grants programme helping community and voluntary groups in our city to celebrate good neighbours in our communities.

You can apply for up to £300, for activities between May and August 2012 that:

• Promote good relations between different groups
• Involve all the diverse groups that make up our communities, but with a focus on what we all have in common
• Help people come together and create a sense of belonging in their neighbourhood

Click here for the Newcastle Neighbours online application form.

Or download the application form and supporting guidance here:

Who can apply?

Not-for-profit, voluntary or community groups which:

• Have been going for one year or more
• Work for the benefit of their community
• Are led by volunteers
• Have a bank account in their own name

If you have an idea for a project but aren't sure if you can meet all these conditions, please get in touch to discuss it.

What activities do they support?

They have two themes which link to national events:

1. Celebrating the Diamond Jubilee
2. Celebrating the London 2012 Olympics

But there is also a general un-themed fund, so your event doesn’t have to be about one of these themes as long as it meets the overall aim of promoting good neighbourliness.

Activities supported may include:

  • A Big Lunch Event (Big Lunch is a national initiative encouraging Britain to rediscover neighbourliness and local connections)
  • Sports day
  • An evening with shared banquet
  • Tea party
  • Local quizzes or competitions
  • A community day trip
  • A clean-up day or other activity which improves the local environment
  • A family fun day
  • An activity which brings different generations together

But if you have a good idea they haven't thought of, they'd love to hear it!
