Hartlepool Salaam centre secures £300,000 of funding
BBC, Wednesday, 18 August

The Salaam Centre has been supported by Hartlepool New Deal for Communities since 2001. Now, money from the Tudor Trust and the Lottery means the project can expand from a small shop unit to the former St Paul's Church Hall on Murray Street.

The plan was initially rejected in 2008 following complaints from residents and businesses over parking.

Healthy eating
With the money in place, and workers busy on site the centre is due to open in October 2010.
