The Revenues and Benefits Team of City Service has recently undergone major transformation by implementing new technology and structures. In focusing on continuous improvement and the commitment to staff City Services are about to embark upon setting up a revenues and benefits NVQ centre; this will allow members of staff to study towards their IRRV NVQ Qualification. City Service are looking to recruit an experienced officer to coordinate this set up as well as carrying out day to day training on legislation and changes to benefits procedures.
As a Senior Benefits Officer, you will be responsible for assessing officers’ training requirements, coaching and mentoring staff through periods of changes and assessing and verifying officers’ work towards their NVQ qualifications. You must have significant experience working within a Benefits environment as well as experience in delivering training to members of staff. You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a very busy environment whilst maintaining high standards of service. If you are enthusiastic and have the necessary skills and experience to join the team and are dedicated to continuous improvement, then the City Service would like to hear from you.

Baps2Go
Volunteer training opportunities
Baps2Go is a community Café in Longbenton, Newcastle and is part of MHC Social Enterprises Ltd which is the Social Enterprise arm of the registered charity Mental Health Care, www.mhcsocialenterprises.co.uk Thanks to the Big Lottery Fund the café are able to offer volunteer training placements to people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The café assistants will be providing the training. The café will be using an external body to assist people in gaining an NVQ level 1 or 2 in the food and drink industry.
The café is flexible to the needs of the volunteers and will provide the necessary support to assist people in gaining a qualification.
Travelling expenses can be reimbursed to the volunteers.

Continuing Education Tutor & NVQ Assessors / Internal Verifiers

Newcastle City Learning is seeking to expand its base of tutors in all curriculum areas, both academic and vocational. Tutors would be required to teach on accredited or non-accredited courses, often in the evening at venues across the whole of the city. In addition the service is seeking to recruit further experienced NVQ Assessors/Internal Verifiers required in a variety of areas and at all levels (1-5). Applications from candidates who are able to assess across a number of areas are particularly welcome. Posts will be offered on a part time basis, although there may be scope for full time employment.
Use of own vehicle, current valid driving licence, or access to mobility transport and a willingness to travel are essential for this role. Please note Assessors and Verifiers qualifications are essential specifically (D32 33 or A award - Assessors), (D34/V1 Verifiers).
